Elementary Community

Our commitment at Marian Baker School is to provide a nurturing community which fosters moral integrity and inspires a life-long love of learning.  In Preschool and Elementary we work with a formative approach to learning.  We stress skills that build students to be socially and emotionally ready for the rigors of academic learning.  In preschool we work to structure an environment that allows students to explore the English language, form social relations with peers and practice daily life skills.  In preparation for first grade students turn their focus to more concrete academics with strong basis in pre-writing and mathematics.  In Elementary we continue to build social and emotional strength in our students while adding habits to reinforce academic learning in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, US Social Studies and Spanish.  As students progress into upper elementary basic learning continues to be added upon in academics. And in preparation for the transition to middle school different aspects within the program are emphasized to show students the different part of learning with class work, homework, tests, and projects.

We challenge our students to strive for academic excellence, solve problems constructively and creatively and to make responsible decisions. In our multi-cultural environment, we encourage them to be proud of their own culture, appreciative of other’s and determined to work together for the welfare of all.
