Objetives
MBS is a college preparatory school and recognizes each individual
as having infinite possibilities of success. The school strives to
provide an academic program, which challenges students, while
developing good study and life skills.
The curriculum and courses are similar to those in a North American
school. United States textbooks are used in classes as well as
various Costa Rican Spanish texts. The school is accredited by
the Ministry of Education of the Government of Costa Rica and
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States.
Instruction is in English, with the exception of Spanish and Costa Rican
Social Studies. All students are required to take Spanish. Grades K-5
are self-contained, and grades 6-12 are departmentalized. Students follow a college preparatory program. There is an emphasis
on individualization, as well as frequent student/teacher communication.
Students are expected to develop strong reading, writing, computation
and thinking skills at all grade levels. Children with limited English
speaking and writing abilities are favored for acceptance in the
early grades and are subsequently scheduled for intense ESL
preparation. Students matriculating in their high school years,
grades 6-12, are required to have English proficiency levels to progress
through all classes. |
